New article “Manipulation of the E.coli chromosome to optimize production strains” published in Laborwelt 5/2006.
The article describes the simple replacement of any part of the E.coli chromosome using Red/ET Recombination. The inactivation of the mannose transporter is discussed in detail with data shown. The article, published in German, also cites further examples of E.coli chromosome modifications. Page 51 of the same issue shows a description of the new "Quick & Easy E. coli Gene Deletion Kit", which provides all tools necessary to modify the E. coli chromosome.
